It does looks a bit like the Dufferin Gate, though the Gate is nicer aesthetically :)
FYI, the Malay words ‘Selamat Menyambut Hari Kebangsaan’ means ‘Happy Celebrating National Day’.
The arch has been there for a very long time, and the words just stayed the same throughout the year. Guess the city council thinks it’s a hassle to take off the words and to have it put up again the following year…
